WASHINGTON, D.C. (FOX NEWS) — Illinois Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger has responded to former President Donald Trump’s reaction to his decision not to run for re-election in next year in the 16th District.
Former President Trump celebrated the choices of Kinzinger and Ohio Congressman Anthony Gonzales, two of ten Republicans voting to impeach the former president, to not run.
Kinzinger, on ABC’s “This Week” said the GOP’s future rests with those that won’t push back on a stolen election claim.
“It’s not on Liz Cheney and I to save the Republican party. It’s on the 190 Republicans who haven’t said a dang word about it,” Kinzinger said.
Kinzinger said in his remaining time in the House he’ll continue to serve on the January 6th commission to bring facts on the Capitol riot to light.
Fellow Republican Congressman Darin LaHood (R-Peoria) announced on Friday his intentions to run in Illinois’ newly expanded 16th District in 2022.
