CHICAGO, Ill. – Illinois Governor JB Pritzker Thursday took part in Veterans Day ceremonies in Chicago.
Pritzker says veterans have given great sacrifices.
“That, fundamentally, is the mark of Veterans Day, and putting aside civilian fear, worry, struggle, and pressing forward with an unwavering commitment of what is worth fighting for,” said Pritzker.
Pritzker reminded veterans and the public about all the things he says his administration is doing to help veterans. Pritzker, specifically, highlights help for vets wanting to further their educations.
“In-state tuition is now free for veterans at our in-state public educational institutions,” said Pritzker. “I’ve given a boost to military personnel transitioning back to civilian life, by giving them credit for their in-service experience, so that they can more easily get certifications for civilian jobs.”
Pritzker says the state is continuing to support veterans through the opening of a long-awaited new veterans home in Chicago, and the construction of a new facility at the veterans home in Quincy.
