PEORIA, Ill. – A new partner is getting on board with operation of the Peoria RiverPlex at the beginning of the year.
Up to now, the Peoria Park District and OSF HealthCare have jointly operated the workout and athletic facility. Now, there will be a third partner.
“Beginning January first, members of the RiverPlex will be able to access all of the physical spaces and programming at the Greater Peoria Family YMCA, and vice versa,” said Emily Cahill, Executive Director, Peoria Park District.
Cahill says the 20-year RiverPlex operation agreement between OSF and the park district is expiring at the end of the year.
“As we looked at the stability of the community and the goals we have for that, and the stability of the [RiverPlex] itself, we thought it was really important to bring in additional partners to help to be competitive in today’s market,” Cahill said.
Cahill says up to now, the operating agreement for RiverPlex has been a “national model”. The Peoria Park Board will vote on the agreement next week.
If approved, a dual membership drive will be held starting Friday, November 26, and open houses at both faciltiies will be held.
