PEORIA, Ill. – An autopsy has officially been conducted on the ten-year-old boy who died Friday after being struck by an alleged hit-and-run driver days before.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Monday “severe blunt force head trauma and brain injury” claimed the life of young Troy Erving. Harwood previously had said the death would be investigated as a homicide.
Erving was riding his bicycle last Tuesday on Northeast Glen Oak Avenue when a car allegedly driven by Karrie Brunswig, 43, struck him before leaving the scene.
Brunswig was arrested the next day. She faces traffic offenses along with felony counts of Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Driving on a Suspended License.
She’s jailed on $1 million bond and will be back in court December 9th. It’s possible more charges could be filed.
