Peoria, Ill — There is across-the-board approval among local business interests about the trillion dollar bi-partisan infrastructure bill.
Many analysts and top executives agree it will help in a wide variety of different sectors of the Central Illinois economy.
DeLoss Jahnke is an ag business specialist for RFD Illinois.
He offered insight on “The Greg and Dan Show” on Tuesday.
We’re told one area of particular concern for the Central Illinois ag economy will be upgrading and repairing the Illinois River lock and dam system.
“The products that go up and down that river are immensely important and the system to move goods up and down the river is so much more efficient.”
He says it would be much more cost prohibitive to move those goods via road or rail.
He agrees that billions in federal funding for road, bridge and rural broadband projects can only be a good thing for Central Illinois as well.
“$9.8 billion for federal highway projects, $1.4 billion for bridge repair and replacement. That’s pretty important for Peoria.”
However, at the same time, Jahnke believes the increased government spending will continue to drive inflation higher.
