Peoria, Ill — State education leaders are set to advance new rules for mandating vaccines for Illinois teachers.
Of course, you will have a chance to review the rules before final approval.
The ISBE will take up a long list of items on Thursday including one that mentions teacher vaccine mandates as a, “rule for initial review”.
An executive order approved by the board back in September requires Illinois teachers get vaccinated or undergo weekly testing, but the rule isn’t final yet.
The board anticipates it will advance the new rule and publish it in the Illinois Register for public review and public comment, pending final approval.
According to agenda materials for Thursday’s meeting, “The rules provide schools and school districts with sufficient clarity and detail regarding implementation of the Executive Order and required record keeping and will provide necessary support for schools and school districts to protect the health and safety of students, school personnel, and their broader communities during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.”
Even as legal challenges to the Biden Administration’s vaccine mandate have continued, many government institutions and business organizations are being advised to begin implementing them as a precautionary measure.
