PEORIA, Ill. — Thanksgiving and Christmas are all about family.
Local Infectious Diseases Specialist Dr. Doug Kasper, with the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria, says it’s important this year to attend those gatherings.
“People have been isolated, people have been off from birthdays, holidays. So, vaccination and boosters remain an incredibly good way to protect yourself,” Kasper said.
Kasper told WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show”, getting vaccinated does protect with transmission, it does help with all metrics related to COVID-19.
“So, certainly if you’re planning to travel, which I totally encourage, to spend time with family and loved ones, and the vaccine is still on your agenda, please strongly consider it going into the holidays,” Kasper said.
Dealing with isolation, stress and loss over the past year and a half has been hard on everyone. So, it’s important for mental and emotional health to see family this year, Kasper said.
