BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – A longtime Central Illinois politician is throwing his hat into an already-crowded field of both Democrats and Republicans looking to be the next Illinois Secretary of State.
Bloomington Republican State Representative Dan Brady announces his campaign with a YouTube video.
“I’m passionate about reducing driving accidents related to distracted driving, and developing better ways of teaching young drivers behind the wheel,” said Brady.
But, Brady also says while be’s been a lawmaker, the Secretary of State office isn’t a lawmaking body.
“I look forward to sharing more in depth my ideas for new technology and innovative services to reduce wait times for renewal processes, while protecting personal data,” said Brady. “The Secretary of State’s office is an office created to provide service, not develop public policy.”
Brady has been a state rep since 2001, but has a history of other political offices, starting with McLean County Coroner in the 1990’s.
Conservative radio talk show host William Kelly, and at least four Chicago-area Democrat politicians, all want to replace Jesse White in next year’s election.
