PEORIA, Ill. – The Bloomington man who led police on a chase through Peoria and Tazewell Counties Thursday, then engaged in a two hour standoff, is making his first appearance in court.
Peoria County Court records indicate a judge has set bond in the case of Keith Goembel, 41, at $10,000.
Goembel faces charges of Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving, and a host of traffic offenses. Deputies tried to stop Goembel’s vehicle in Peoria County, but instead ended up chasing into Tazewell County near Worley Lake, stopping when his car allegedly struck a Tazewell County squad car.
That led to the standoff, after which Goembel surrendered.
He’s scheduled to be back in court December 14th.
