PEORIA, Ill. – An East Peoria man will be spending fifteen years in prison on federal charges of Possession of Methamphetamine.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Joshua Ward, 35, was given the sentence Thursday. He pleaded guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute in March.
Prosecutors say Ward admitted to possessing and selling meth on a number of occasions between July and September of 2020, having meth in ice form when he was arrested, along with scales and other items.
“Our ongoing focus to disrupt and deter ice methamphetamine dealers is working,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Douglas J. Quivey, in a news release. “This case is an excellent example of how the Drug Enforcement Administration can enhance the efforts of our state and local departments to target those at the top.”
Pekin Police once again aided the feds in investigating the case, which was described as part of an ongoing National Methamphetamine Strategic Initiative.
