PEORIA, Ill. – Thanksgiving Day has turned deadly in Peoria.
Peoria Police say the city’s 33rd homicide of the year happened around 11 Thursday morning in the 300 block of East Thrush Avenue, in the city’s East Bluff neighborhood.
Police got a ShotSpotter alert from the area, followed by numerous calls from residents.
An 18-year-old male was taken from the scene to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, and was pronounced dead. His name is not yet being released by the Peoria County Coroner.
Meanwhile, police ask if you have any information to call them at (309) 673-4521, or the Greater Peoria Area Crime Stoppers at (309) 673-9000, as the investigation continues.
It’s believed to be the city’s first fatal shooting in almost two weeks.
