PEORIA HEIGHTS, Ill. — Peoria Heights will debut a new holiday event at Tower Park this weekend.
On Friday, a group of 20 local vendors, artists and musicians, will be part of the Heights’ first Kris Kringle Market, topped off by a tree lighting.
“Santa is going to make an appearance on the fire truck at 6:00. And, then we’ll have the Mayor’s annual tree light at 6:00 as well,” said organizer Barb Milaccio.
“It’s the beginning of what is hoped to become a cherished holiday tradition in central Illinois,” Milaccio added.
Hot chocolate and holiday treats will be available during the Kris Kringle Market in a special hut made specifically for the event.
Millaccio said there are plans to construct up to 30 or 40 huts for future markets in Tower Park.
On Saturday, the festivities continue with the Holiday Walk in the Heights.
“We invite patrons to come out and support our local businesses and our restaurants. And, then one thing Peoria Heights is really known for is our Chocolate in the Heights,” Milaccio said.
