PEORIA, Ill. – One driver was trapped inside one of two vehicles involved in a Peoria accident.
Peoria firefighters responded to a call of a two-vehicle crash at 8:26 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of Northmoor Road.
Battalion Chief Michael Hughes said crews found one vehicle with two occupants.
The other vehicle had left the scene.
Hughes said there was heavy damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle and the driver was trapped inside.
Firefighters used hydraulic spreaders, commonly referred to as the Jaws of Life, and hydraulic cutters to remove the driver’s side door. The driver was then removed from the vehicle and immobilized.
The driver was transported by ambulance to a hospital with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.
The driver was not identified and no information was released concerning the other occupant.
Peoria police are investigating the accident.
