Bradley holds in-person winter commmencement ceremony
PEORIA, Ill. – (25 News) – Bradley University held its first in-person commencement since 2019 Saturday to celebrate this year’s winter graduates.
Nearly 400 undergraduates and grad students were honored at Renaissance Coliseum for their achievements.
Graduate Ahmari Carson said despite the challenges of learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was great to celebrate in person.
“The pandemic made things a little rough transitioning to online school – especially with engineering, but our teachers worked with us and made it better for us overall,” Carson said. “It means a lot to me to be a first-generation college student. It’s a very exciting day for me.”
The event included speeches from a couple of the grads and a few alumni. The University also celebrated its first-ever Saturday also celebrated Bradley’s first-ever cohort of doctor of education candidates, including Treva Risher.
“I’m the only person in my family with a doctorate, and in my immediate family, I’m the only person who’s gone to college, so it’s pretty big,” Risher said. “I’m excited for my family to see me walk across the stage and be proud of the woman I’ve become.”
