UPDATE
PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man was the victim of an apparent hit-and-run accident in rural Peoria County.
The Peoria County Coroner’s Office says Caleb Charlson, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred around 5:40 a.m. Saturday in the 7600 block of Plank Road. An autopsy is scheduled Monday.
Peoria County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and found Charlson in the roadway. He had suffered injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
Deputies say there should be damage to the suspect vehicle. Anyone aware of the vehicle’s whereabouts should call Detective David Zook at 309-657-7682, or CrimeStoppers at 309-673-9000.

The Peoria County Sheriffs Department says the accident was reported around 5:40 a.m. in the 7600 block of West Plank Road, inbetween Hanna City and Bellevue. A 40-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene, and officials say injuries were consistent with being hit by a car.

The victim’s name will be released at a later time by the Peoria County Coroner.
