PEORIA, Ill. – The City of Peoria says police and fire facilities are available to people needing to get warm.
City officials say despite normally being closed between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m., the Police Department lobby, 600 SW Adams, will be available as a warming center during that time.
The city also says Peoria Fire Department stations are open to the public until 10:00 p.m., but someone needing to get warm can go to one any time. If a fire crew has to respond to a call, however, the station will be closed, and anyone using it as a warming station will have to leave.
Masks and temperature checks are required at all facilities.
Temperatures are expected to be above freezing Tuesday, but then get bitterly cold again for at least a few days after that.
