PEORIA, Ill. – (25 News) – A local organization – aimed at healing communities – is expanding into a bigger, better building.
JOLT Harm Reduction said goodbye to its old building on Northeast Adams Street Saturday, and will now operate on North Sheridan Road across from the Peoria City/County Health Department.
Serving the Peoria area for the last four years, the group offers rehabilitation, counseling, treatment and other resources for a wide variety of issues, including drug addiction and homelessness.
“We have seen a 50 percent reduction in fatal overdoses over the last 12 months, and we know that the work we do contributed to that largely,” program director Chris Schaffner said. “What we found in our transition, is that we’ve had little to no push-back moving into this new location.”
JOLT’s new building is located at 2203 North Sheridan Road in Peoria. Schaffner says the ability to work hand-in-hand with the health department now gives the program a huge boost.
