PEORIA, Ill. – Fights broke out inside and outside Peoria High School resulting in several juveniles and one adult taken into custody.
Police say officers were called to the school at 2:09 p.m. Friday to assist school resource officers with crowd control.
Eight juveniles and one adult were arrested at the scene on charges ranging from mob action to aggravated battery to school personnel.
The juveniles were transported to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center, but upon arrival, five were taken to a local hospital to be examined after being exposed to pepper spray. Once medically cleared, they were returned to the Juvenile Detention Center.
The adult was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
The investigation continues.
