PEORIA, Ill. — A winter storm system headed for Central Illinois has prompted the National Weather Service in Lincoln to issue a Winter Storm Warning Tuesday night through Thursday night.
Chief Meteorologist Chuck Collins, with news partner 25 News, confirms the storm will start out as rain Tuesday afternoon, change to a mix sleet and snow Tuesday evening, changing to all snow through Thursday.
“Snowfall accumulation around Peoria will be around a foot with locally higher pockets. Once the snow starts, travel will be hazardous if not impossible,” Collins said.
Strong winds will create hazardous if not impossible travel conditions.
