PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Fire officials say arson was the cause of a late-morning house fire in South Peoria.
Crews were called the the home on South Shelly, near Shelly and Antionette, just after 10 a.m. Tuesday and say the back already was fully engulfed in flames.
The fire was brought under control in 40 minutes, but additional crews had to be called in to make what they called a “defensive attack”. They stayed on scene for three hours.
The fire also spread to another building next door that had to be taken care of.
No one was hurt, and two people inside the home were given assistance by the Red Cross.
The house is a total loss.
