PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria’s Snow Fighters are ready.
Sie Maroon, with Peoria Public Works, tells WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show”, with about a foot of snow in the forecast, they’re bringing in extra help.
“We are actually bringing in outside contractors with heavy equipment, and we’re looking right now for some with snow plows on their trucks. This is bigger than us, with a significant snow storm coming,” Maroon said.
Peoria Public Works was already out Tuesday morning pretreating the residential areas of town ahead of the storm, despite rain that is expected to fall before the snow.
“We’re gonna put brine down, we’re gonna hit it hard once it starts snowing with the plows. We will use chemicals and rock salt at the back end of the storm as well, when we’re clearing the streets,” Maroon said.
Messages will be sent out from the City of Peoria regarding Snow Emergency routes and residential streets, too.
“The message is going to be, if you can, get your car off the street, even if it’s a residential, get it off the street,” Maroon said.
He adds, “Models are showing a lull in the storm Wednesday afternoon, before another round of snow comes our way Wednesday night.”
