EAST PEORIA, Ill. – The National Weather Service says, unofficially, 12 inches of snow fell Tuesday night into Wednesday in Peoria. But that doesn’t mean the threat of winter weather is over, for a few reasons.
A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for the entire area until 6pm Thursday.
“We’ll see another inch or two of snow overnight into Thursday morning,” said Chuck Collins, Chief Meteorologist, 25 News. “But the Winter Storm Warning continuation is because of blowing and drifting snow with low visibility, which will continue hazardous travel.”
Wind gusts are expected to be near 30 miles per hour Wednesday night into most of the day Thursday.
A number of schools, including Peoria, are planning another day of e-learning Thursday, but some are calling off. Click on “Cancellations” above for our latest list.
