PEORIA, Ill. – A toddler is Peoria’s third homicide death of the year, and an arrest on murder charges has been made.
Peoria Police say first responders went to a home in the North Valley on Northeast Perry Tuesday morning for a two year old not breathing.
Young Emori Green was pronounced dead at the scene, and Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says “multiple traumatic blunt force injuries” were to blame, based on an autopsy.
Police say Shamari Williams, 25, was arrested Tuesday, initially on a charge of Aggravated Battery. But he was arrested again Wednesday and charged with First-Degree Murder.
An investigation continues, and Williams is behind bars.
