PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Mayor Rita Ali has issued an emergency declaration for the city because of the current Winter snow storm.
That’s according to a city statement, which indicates that could help the city get reimbursement for snow clean-up expenses through FEMA.
Governor JB Pritzker, said Tuesday he didn’t think the state’s snow clean-up costs would be enough to meet FEMA requirements.
Meanwhile, Peoria County has suggested road conditions continue to deteriorate, and the city wants people to avoid driving, especially on hilly areas, as much as possible.
The city says contractors will start working on residential snow clean-up now.
