TAZEWELL COUNTY, Ill. – Depending on where you go in Tazewell County, snowfall there might be bad, or really bad — at least, as of earlier Wednesday morning.
“We’ve probably had six inches locally in central Tazewell early this morning. I’d say there’s probably…somewhere between six to eight now,” said Scott Williams, Tazewell County Highway Supervisor. “The southern end of the county, in the Delavan-Armington line down there, probably has a couple inches more.”
Williams says his crews have been working since 3:30 a.m. to clean 204 miles worth of roads there, not including township roads.
“The roads right now are probably the best they’re going to be for the next 24 hours,” said Williams.
Williams says with 204 miles of mostly rural non-township roads to try and keep clean, the more it snows, the harder they’ll be to deal with.
“With the accumulating snow the rest of the day and overnight tonight, and adding to it 30 mile per hour winds, the roads will be considerably worse [Thursday] morning when we wake up,” said Williams.
Williams says he has ten snow plow drivers, and one mechanic, all working to make sure the work gets done.
