PEORIA, Ill. — The Spirit of Peoria riverboat might be sold, then paddle away to another river town.
The issue is being discussed on social media, but the riverboat’s owner Alex Grieves has not confirmed his property is for sale.
Peoria City Manager Patrick Urich also did not have anything to say about Grieves possibly selling the riverboat, but Urich told news partner 25 News that the city has a right of first refusal to match any sale offer within 90 days, or the city can waive that right.
Peoria’s city government’s current 25 year contract with the Spirit of Peoria expires on April 30 of this year, according to Urich.
