WASHINGTON, Ill. – Police in Washington say they’ve arrested a man in connection with the death of his child.
Authorities say David Van Winsen, 29, was arrested Friday on a charge of First Degree Murder.
It all started January 19, when, police say, first responders went to a call of an infant in distress.
The child — identified by Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood as Cree Dax Lane Van Winsen, three months, was taken to a hospital in Peoria, where the boy was pronounced dead two days later.
David Van Winsen was the boy’s father. Harwood says an autopsy turned up “abusive head trauma by another,” but offered no other information.
An investigation continues, and anyone with information is asked to call Washington Police at (309) 444-2313.
