PEORIA, Ill. — A juvenile boy has died and two people, including another juvenile, are under arrest after a stabbing Monday afternoon near Quest Charter Middle School in Peoria.
Police said Monday night the boy died from stab wounds after police were called to the area of North Bootz Avenue and West Hanssler Place about 2:45 p.m.
The victim was taken to a hospital where the Peoria County Coroner says Jawuan Lowe, 16, was pronounced dead, after what an autopsy indicates was a single stab wound to the back that caused rapid internal bleeding.
Police said their investigation identified Damony Thompson, 19, as a suspect. Detectives interviewed Thompson and arrested him for first-degree murder.
Also arrested was a juvenile male on two counts of aggravated battery, two counts of mob action with injury, and criminal damage to property. He’s being held in the juvenile detention center, while Thompson was taken to the Peoria County Jail.
Anyone with information about the incident, is asked to call Peoria Police Detective Vasquez at 309-494-8369, Tip411 or Crime Stoppers at 309-673-9000.
