PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man who was originally arrested on a murder charge for a fatal stabbing earlier this week only faces a charge of Mob Action at the moment.
Court records indicate Damony Thompson, 19, made an appearance in court Wednesday, where a judge set a bond of $25,000. He’ll next be back in court March 10th.
Thompson and a juvenile were arrested Monday, after Jawuan Lowe, 16, was found to have been stabbed in the back not far from Quest Charter Academy.
The juvenile also faces mob action and other charges.
A grand jury could potentially be called and still file a murder charge. The Peoria Journal Star reports prosecutors weren’t sure they could meet the burden of proof on a murder charge.
A judge Wednesday ordered Thompson not to get within two hundred feet of Lowe’s surviving twin brother.
