CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — The Illini battled back against Iowa on the final day of the regular season to clinch a share of the Big Ten Conference Title and the top seed in the conference tournament, defeating the Hawkeyes 74-72.
The Illini were able to claim a share of the title with a win and help earlier from Nebraska who defeated Wisconsin, according to 25 News.
The Illini fell behind in the first half, but battled back from the 15-point deficit, going on a 9-0 run to close the first half only down six points to Iowa.
Illinois battled in the second half and were able to re-take the lead and eventually hold on for the big win over Iowa.
Kofi Cockburn led Illinois with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Alfonso Plummer tallied 15 points, Andre Curbelo 14.
The Illini will head into the Big Ten Tournament with a double-bye. They will face the winner of Michigan-Indiana on Friday.
