SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Illinois lawmakers have shown broad bi-partisan agreement on one issue, helping students at Lincoln College find somewhere else to continue their education.
Today, lawmakers in the State House announced passage of a resolution calling on other Illinois public and private colleges and universities to step up.
The State House joint resolution urges those insitutions to extend their application deadlines for students currently enrolled at Lincoln College.
Lawmakers as schools to honor the credits earned by those students at Lincoln and have those credits be transferred accordingly.
The measure also urges Lincoln College to waive transcript fees from students currently enrolled and asks all Illinois public and private post-secondary schools to attend the Lincoln College student trans
In addition, lawmakers say they are looking out for employees at Lincoln College.
They are strongly encouraging the Illinois Department of Employment Security and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to work with the displaced Lincoln College employees to “ease their financial hardships” and support their attempts to find new employment.
