PEORIA, Ill. — A garage in Peoria was engulfed in flames that spread to three nearby homes late Wednesday night.
Firefighters were called about 10 p.m. to the fire on S. Tonti Circle, near S. Laramie.
Fire Battalion Chief Steve Rada said the fire destroyed the unattached garage and spread to three houses, though crews prevented it from penetrating the interior of two of the homes.
A car inside the garage was a total loss. A car parked in the driveway was also damaged.
Rada said everyone got out safely, and no firefighters were injured. Crews rescued a cat from one of the homes.
The Red Cross was called to provide housing for two residents who were displaced by the fire.
Damage is estimated at $75,000. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
