PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria firefighters were called just after 2:30 a.m. Wednesday to a reported house fire in the area of Spitznagle Avenue and N.E. Monroe Street.
Crews arrived to find the entire first floor of a two-story house engulfed in flames.
Fire Battalion Chief Clint Kuhlman said once the fire was knocked down on the first floor, firefighters were able to advance hose lines to the second floor and extinguish fire that extended from the first floor to the second floor.
No one was inside the home at the time of the fire, the occupants had escaped before crews arrived on the scene.
A fire investigator was called in to determine the cause of the fire. The fire was deemed accidental.
The home was a total loss. It was set to be demolished.
No injuries were reported.
