Peoria Interim Fire Chief Shawn Sollberger now says demolition is slated to begin Sunday, with the combination of foam and nitrogen being entered into the smoldering grain bins working very well.

PEORIA, Ill. — As of 6 a.m. Friday, the Peoria Fire Department has removed its resources from the BioUrja plant, other than maintaining a 24-hour fire watch.
On Thursday, ground operations were performed and found multiple access points to flow water and create openings for the foam mitigation company, Allied International, to place their necessary equipment.
Interim Fire Chief Shawn Sollberger said Nitrogen gas has been flowing into the grain silo with desired results.
The demolition crew is on-scene at the plant as of Friday morning.
Allied International, Peoria Fire and BioUrja are set to begin the systematic planning for extensive demolition.
The demolition comes over a week after the initial explosion and partial collapse at the former ADM plant downtown.
