PEORIA, Ill. – Congressman Darin LaHood helped get some local residents cheap gas for a limited time Wednesday.
25 News reports LaHood and the political advocacy group Americans for Prosperity went to Beachler’s at University and War Memorial, and offered gas for $2.38 a gallon — the price, LaHood says, gas was when President Joe Biden first took office.
LaHood says the price of gas is the number one issue he hears about from constituents right now, and he says the way to get back to lower gas prices is more energy independence.
“We have the cleanest water, cleanest environment now,” LaHood (R-Dunlap) told 25 News. “We got to open up that oil production, there’s a way to do that and get back to energy independence.”
Americans For Prosperity was started by the Koch Brothers. The group plans on visiting 100 cities in 100 days to provide lower gas.
Traffic spotters told us that there were backups in the area during the event.
