CHICAGO, Ill. – Texas Governor Greg Abbott discussing gun legislation and the new details of the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday that killed nearly two dozen people — might have gotten on the nerve of Illinois’ Governor.
Pritzker took to Twitter to respond to a statement made as Abbott was claiming that people oversimplify gun legislation.
“I hate to say this, but there are more people who were shot every weekend in Chicago than there are in schools in Texas,” said Abbott. “We need to realize that people who that that maybe we can just implement tougher gun laws is going to solve it. Chicago and L.A. and New York disprove that thesis.”
Pritzker responded on Twitter by saying Abbott is lying, linking to a story claiming that the majority of guns used in crimes in Chicago involve guns brought in from out of state.
He said, “Do better. You have 19 kids and two teachers who deserve our best.”
Shame on you, @GovAbbott .
