EDWARDS, Ill. — Peoria firefighters were called to a home in the area of N. Buckeye Drive and N. Grand Fir Drive just after 3:30 p.m. Sunday on reports of a garage fire.
Crews worked to prevent the fire from spreading into the home and a neighboring home approximately 10 feet away.
Neighbors reported a dog was inside the home at the time of the fire. An off-duty police officer retrieved the dog after speaking with the owners on their ring camera.
One firefighter sustained a leg injury while checking for fire in the garage attic.
Damage is estimated at $120,000.
An investigator said the cause of the fire was unintentional.
