CHICAGO, Ill. — Illinois Gov. J-B Pritzker is touting new investments in Early Childhood programs.
The governor said on Monday that the changes will help provide affordable childcare to working families and help providers serve their communities.
For example, an initiative set to end at the end of this month giving three months of daycare assistance to parents trying to re-enter the workforce will continue.
“We’re now extending that program for the rest of the calendar year, and expanding eligibility to parents enrolled in online education and skills training programs who are seeking to better their career,” Pritzker said.
Additionally, income eligibility limits for the state’s Child Care Assistance program are increasing and participating providers will receive more reimbursement funds.
“That’s money of course to deal with inflationary costs, but also more money to pay staff and maintain facilities, and ensure the best educational materials are available to our babies and our toddlers,” Pritzker said.
Illinois is also eliminating copays for families experiencing homelessness.
