PEORIA, Ill. – They’ve been live for about a week now — online surveys being conducted by the Greater Peoria Economic Development Council regarding the need for broadband internet in Peoria and Woodford Counties.
Grace Clucas is with the council and tells WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show” just what’s at stake in terms of trying to get better, faster internet to rural areas.
“The government has been really putting attention toward this,” said Clucas, a “Lead for America” fellow. “There’s about a billion dollars that there is estimated to come to Illinois in the next year. We’re kind of preparing our communities for that, and one of the ways we’re doing that is with the broadband survey.”
Clucas says anyone — living in urban or rural areas — is being urged to take the survey.
“Take the survey. Tell us your story,” said Clucas. “We don’t care if you use the internet for every single thing you do in your life, or if you don’t use it all, or once during the day. We want to hear everything.”
