BELLEVUE, Ill. – A rural Knox County woman was arrested Monday for what Peoria County Jail records indicate was the third time this year on a charge of Endangering the Life or Health of a Child.
The Peoria County Sheriffs Department says deputies went to Plank Road Liquor in Bellevue around 12:55 p.m. on a report of a child left unattended in a car running in the parking lot.
An employee reportedly discovered a small child in a car seat with other baby toys inside.
Taryn Johnson, 31, of Yates City told investigators she just went to buy cigarettes after leaving drug court downtown, but then stayed to gamble.
The employee claims Johnson did the same thing in January, and was arrested on a similar charge earlier this month.
A police report says it was 89 degrees outside at the time of Johnson’s arrest, and deputies indicated they would be contacting DCFS.
