SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting confirmed new COVID-19 cases being a little lower than the week before, but concern remains.
The state says 32,268 new cases were reported last week, down from 33,000-plus the week before.
But, while 94 of the state’s 102 counties still have medium to high levels of community spread of the disease, they say the number at “high” is now to 58 — more than half the state.
After being at a “low” level of community spread last week, Woodford County is once again at “medium.” Peoria and Tazewell Counties remain “high.”
More than 1,400 are hospitalized with COVID statewide, up from a week ago. Roughly ten percent of those are in Intensive Care.
