PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Fire crews were called to home on W. Harper Terrace, near W. Hamilton Place, by residents reporting a fire in their kitchen Saturday morning.
Fire Battalion Chief Lore Baxter said just before 5:30 a.m., first responders found black smoke coming from the front door and flames in the back of the home.
The flames were put out quickly in the kitchen.
Two cats were believed to be inside. One cat was found unharmed, another apparently escaped thru an open door.
Additional crews checked for extension and extinguished hot spots.
Ameren was on scene to secure the utilities.
The Red cross was called to provide assistance for two adults.
Fire investigator determined the blaze was accidental.
No injuries were reported.
