PEORIA, Ill. — As negotiations continue with Peoria Public Schools, the local teachers’ union is set to hold a PFT Bargaining Rally For Respect Monday night.
This comes after negotiations stalled last week between Peoria Federation of Teachers Local 780 and Peoria District 150. PFT is now looking for a mediator to step in.
The rally will be 6-7 p.m., ahead of the PPS school board meeting at 6:30.
The demonstration will take place outside the school administration building on Wisconsin Avenue.
An agreement between Peoria Public Schools and the teachers’ union expired on June 30th.
PPS teachers started the school year without a contract.
Peoria Federation of Teachers Local 780 is requesting a salary increase for more than 1,000 Peoria Public Schools teachers.
The union says PPS is not prioritizing it’s teachers with $108 Million in COVID-19 relief funds already allocated to the district.
