PEORIA, Ill. – Another significant increase in local gasoline prices in the last week.
Both AAA and GasBuddy.com report Peoria-area gas price averages more than 25 cents higher than this time last week. AAA’s Peoria-Pekin metro average is at $4.31 per gallon, while GasBuddy’s is a penny more at $4.32.
GasBuddy Analyst Patrick DeHaan says refinery problems in the West and Great Lakes areas are improving with prices possibly inching down.
The problem continues to be OPEC’s decision last week to cut refinery production, which may result in prices in other parts of the country continuing to going up. Either way, analysts are expecting not much relief in the near term.
Illinois’ average according to GasBuddy is at $4.40 a gallon, while AAA’s national average is almost $3.92.
