PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria County Coroner says fingerprint databases helped identify the victim of the fatal hit-and-run accident early Sunday in Peoria.
Coroner Jamie Harwood says a preliminary autopsy on John Fasig, 52, indicates he died likely instantly of multiple blunt force injuries. He says through the use of the Peoria and Illinois State Police databases, fingerprint matches were confirmed independently of each other.
Fasig was found lying in the street hear Sheridan and Corrington unconscious, with a bicycle nearby. Fasig was pronounced dead at 2:50 A.M..
Harwood thanks the public for, “their diligent care and help in this process.”
A suspect still hasn’t been revealed, and a police investigation continues.
