PEORIA, Ill. — Gas prices in the Peoria area have fallen over 4 cents a gallon in the past week, averaging $4.21 on Monday, according to GasBuddy.
Peoria gas prices are nearly 17 cents higher than a month ago, and over 70 cents higher than a year ago.
Illinois’ average gas price is $4.10, down from $4.20 a gallon last week.
GasBuddy says the cheapest price in Peoria for unleaded gas was $4.09 a gallon on Sunday, while the most expensive gas was $4.39.
The national average price for unleaded gas dropped 4.7 cents a gallon in the last week, averaging $3.72 a gallon on Monday.
“For the third consecutive week, we’ve seen the national average price of gasoline decline, and while it’s good news for most regions with a continued drop in prices, the Northeast is bucking the trend and seeing a noticeable jump due to tight supply,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
