PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria Civic Center is making quite the comeback.
The Civic Center Tuesday confirmed what they projected during a period where eighteen events were being hosted in 12 days at the downtown venue.
More than 22,000 people attended events at the Civic Center over the weekend, with comedian Bill Burr presenting the center’s highest grossing comedy show. And that’s the second time this year that record was broken, after comedian Gabriel Iglesias broke it in March.
That’s in addition to a packed house for Friday night’s Keith Urban show, the “Broadway in Peoria” performances of “Come Fly Away,” a cheerleading competition, and an Easterseals tribute dinner.
“This is one of the largest weekends we have had since closing our doors in early 2020,” said Rik Edger, PCC General Manager, in a news release. “It’s great to have people coming to the Peoria Civic Center to enjoy the wide variety of events we host.”
Officials say they expect 18,000 to 20,000 more visitors for events this week.
