PEORIA, Ill. — For the second time this week, police have responded to a traffic crash involving a school bus.
The latest occurred early Thursday, around 7 a.m. at the intersection of Knoxville Avenue and Pioneer Parkway in Peoria.
Precise details surrounding the collision remain unclear, although it appears to have been a simple rear-ender. Peoria Police do confirm none of the 27 students on board the bus were injured.
The driver of the vehicle that collided with the bust had to be rushed off by ground ambulance.
PPD indicated there were no arrests or citations in the incident.
It is the second time a vehicle has collided with a school bus this week, with the last incident coming Monday morning Rt. 116 and Quarry Road just north of Trivoli in unincorporated Peoria County.
In that incident, a large box truck slammed into the back of a Farmington school bus, sending the bus into the side of a nearby home.
Six students were taken by AMT ambulance to area hospitals for injuries that morning.
In that case, the Peoria County Sheriffs Department says the driver of the box truck was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
