PEORIA, Ill. — Thousands of families can thank OSF Healthcare Children’s Hospital of Illinois for saving the lives of their kids.
And, for 22 years, John Riley with sister station 93.3 The Drive, has been raising money and awareness for the Peoria hospital.
“You can pick and choose from a lot of things, and everybody’s organization is worthy of your support, but something that gets into everyone’s life in Central Illinois, is OSF Children’s Hospital…if you haven’t had a kid in the hospital, you know someone who has, it’s something unique to this area,” Riley says.
On Friday, the Drive for Miracles Radio-thon raised nearly $358,500 for OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois.
Riley and Drive co-host Nancy Flagg took pledges for the 22nd Drive for Miracles all day Friday at OSF’s new Mission Headquarters in downtown Peoria.
The radio-thon has raised millions of dollars for life-saving services at OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois over the years.
Riley says 100% of the money raised here, stays here.
“It goes directly to the hospital, our hospital, in Peoria. It doesn’t go to the International Childrens’ Health Fund or anything, all local, all your funding is directed here locally, and that’s what makes the difference,” Riley says.
