WASHINGTON, D.C. (FOX NEWS) — American drivers may get a much-needed present this holiday season.
The nation’s gasoline prices keep falling, and may hover around $3.00 a gallon, on average, by Christmas.
Gasbuddy.com says refineries have raised production, and that’s helping bring down both regular and diesel gas prices.
But, the time of the year is also helping to keep prices down…with bad weather and shorter days, people tend to drive less.
Gas prices have already fallen below $3.00 a gallon in 15 states, according to AAA.
AAA says the national average for a gallon of unleaded gas fell three more cents on Wednesday to $3.21, down about 14 cents from a week ago.
In Illinois, the average price is $3.41. In the Peoria-Pekin Metro area, it’s $3.50.
Gasbuddy.com says the Peoria area’s cheapest gas is currently $3.14 a gallon in Pekin.
